Postpartum massage is performed in the comfort of your own home-on your bed or with my portable massage table. Postpartum massage supports the recovery of muscle tone and balance, helps align internal organs, checking for pregnancy-related injuries, and gives you a chance to decompress from the birth. It also provides an opportunity for partners to enhance their Skinship (skin-to-skin bonding) with the baby by learning how to assist in relieving tension from breastfeeding.
Hanako recommends the postpartum parent get their massage within the first ten days after birth to gain maximum benefits for recovery. If the postpartum person had a cesarean delivery, it is ideal to get permission from their doctor before Hanako can perform a postpartum massage that touches the incision site.
